June 25 is the scheduled date for the cranioplasty (replace the skull surgery). Of course, if Nathaniel is like the others in rehab who have scheduled cranioplasty, the surgery may not be on the initially scheduled date - something could come up that pushes it off. We think it is best to do the surgery here rather than returning to Jerusalem. First, the travel time is long and to reserve an ambulance is just another thing to organize. More importantly, though, if G-d forbid, there are complications, he'd have to go back to Jerusalem to be treated. I read an article by the neurosurgeon here which states that infection rates can be as high as 13%, so, complications are not uncommon.

So, how has this week been so far? Well, it was Nathaniel's birthday on Tuesday and we had a great time here with friends, cake, balloons, and more. He slept through most of it, but we had a good time. Here is a video of the event.

As for progress, this week has seen less advancement than last week, but I don't think there has been any regression.

קבענו תאריך לניתוח להחליף/לתגבר את הגולגולת ב25 ליוני. אם נתנאל כמו האחרים בשיקום עם תאריך לניתוח הזה, יש מצב שזה לא יקרה בתאריך הנקבע - משהו יכול לקרות עד אז שידחה אותו לתאריך אחר. אנחנו חושבים שעדיף לעשות את הניתוח כאן ולא לחזור לירושלים. הנסיעה ארוכה ולהזמין אמבולנס זה עוד משהו לארגן. יותר חשוב מזה, אם חס וחלילה יש סיבוכים, נתנאל יצטרך לחזור לירושלים לטיפולים. קראתי כתבה של המנתח המוח כאן שאמר שסיכוי לדלקת יכול להיות 13%, אז סיבוכים לא נדירים.

איך עבר השבוע? היה לנתנאל יום הולדת ביום שלישי ונהנינו כאן עם חברים, עוגה, בלונים ועוד. נתנאל ישן רוב הזמן, אבל נהנינו. אפשר לראות סרטון של היום הולדת כאן.

לגבי התקדמות, השבוע ראינו פחות משבוע שעבר, אבל לא נראה לי שהייתה נסיגה.
