The war was not easy for anyone, and the same is for Nathaniel. He moved to the safe room in his apartment, which meant that he had to sleep in another bed. Thank God, he slept fine. One day he went out to a therapy session and there was an alarm. He stayed with everyone in the safe room there. On Tuesday, after the war ended, Nathaniel and his caregivers went to the beach to see the sunset and to celebrate.

I was sitting with Nathaniel and suggested that we sing. I hummed three tones in which my voice went up and down. Nathaniel was able to copy my “singing".

As Nathaniel's relearns how to swallow and his swallowing reflex becomes stronger, the caregivers started giving him his afternoon medicines orally. He was successful in swallowing the medicines when given with applesauce. They have now started to give Nathaniel all his medicines orally. It's a big deal because it is super important that he gets the complete dosage of a few critical medicines. Thank God, so far he is doing really well with swallowing them.

I was talking to one of his caregivers about someone else. Nathaniel banged on his chair to get our attention. It was clear that he wanted us to stop talking/gossiping about people. He was listening to the conversation, understanding what we were saying, and participating in the conversation by letting us know his thoughts.
