Coronavirus has not changed Nathaniel's day-to-day life, yet. On Tuesday, we went to his yeshiva to celebrate Purim. It was really nice. He smiled a lot. It was not just his usual half smile, but a full smile. On Wednesday, all patients in rehab got a letter stating that if we leave the hospital, like to go home for Shabbat or to an event, we would not be allowed to return. Also, no visitors are allowed to come to the hospital. We returned just in time.
Netanel is moving his right side more which is a great sign. He is really trying to move his right hand on command.
The optometrist said that Netanel has typical third nerve damage. It’s hard for him to look to the right with his eyes and they will work on this. Netanel was really engaged with the optometrist and followed all her instructions.
In music therapy they are trying to get Netanel to blow into a recorder. He struggles with this but all our confident that with time he will be able to do it.
The surgery to close the tracheostomy is scheduled for March 15 in the morning. Please make a note to pray for its success on that date.
The cranioplasty won't be until the end of April at the earliest. With coronavirus and the rules of the hospital, it may be a very long time before he has the surgery.
