Nathaniel is such a gentleman. His friends came over to visit. There was a chocolate bar on the table nearby. He stretched and rearranged his position so he could pick up the chocolate to offer to his friends. He is still working on swallowing and has another test this week to determine whether we can start giving him soft foods. The therapists work with him on swallowing. One brought choices for him to try—applesauce, orange juice, and jelly. He didn’t look so interested, but when his caregiver said, “steak”, boy did his head turn fast. Now we know what the food goal is.

He can count to at least 20. One day I asked him to tap a certain number of times. He was quite successful. I asked him to tap 20 times and he did. I went back to other numbers. Then I returned to 20. He tapped 16 times. I told him that it was only 16, so he tapped 4 more times.
