Nathaniel continues to progress. He had a setback a few weeks ago, though. He had his first seizure ever (except for just after the cranioplasty surgery). It was “only” a small seizure, but afterward, it initially seemed to reverse his progress by about a year. Thank Gd after about a week his brain seemed to recover and he returned to himself. In fact, he seems even better than before. No one knows why the seizure happened, but seizures have been, and always will be, a concern and he will take medications to reduce the risk for the rest of his life.
Nathaniel seems to understand everything, but it is still hard for him to express himself. Still, there are nuggets of interactions. For example, he saw a friend he hasn’t seen since before corona. When the friend took off his mask and told Nathaniel who he was, he smiled and held out his hand in greeting. On Shabbat Joe wasn’t at the apartment for Kiddush. I asked Nathaniel if he wanted the caregiver to make Kiddush. He nodded. I told him that he needed to let the guy know, so he motioned like drinking from a cup and then pointed to the caregiver. It was crystal clear what he wanted.
Nathaniel loves the water. He is progressing very well in hydrotherapy sessions and also enjoys just floating in the pool for fun.
Thank you for this very encouraging update, Judy. Davening is ongoing; our focus & prayers are with Nathaniel and all of you.
Wishing Netanel ontinued progress.
our admiration for your perseverance is boundless.
