In physiotherapy, Nathaniel is learning a new way to transfer from the wheelchair to the therapy bed and back by himself. He is using a sliding board. This will help him be more independent because he won't need anyone to help him with transfers. He seems very excited to use it.

 

Until now, we have initiated all communications with Nathaniel. We had to prompt him with questions and suggestions of what to choose or what to type. Now we are working on working with him on how to initiate. It is a big step, and he seems happy to try.

 

His dance teacher is amazed that he remembers the steps from week to week. He really enjoys the weekly sessions.

 

He is working with his music teacher to play the recorder. He must learn to exhale through his mouth while closing his lips around the recorder. Five years ago, he couldn't even exhale through his mouth at all. He could only breathe through his nose. Now he is learning to modulate his breathing.
